Build materials and features

Once you have chosen a keyboard layout. Knowing the build materials and features will help you narrow down the perfect board.

Case Materials

Premium keyboard cases are made of milled aluminium, wood, milled acrylic, and 3d printed plastic. A majority of the keyboards on the market are injection molded plastic. However not all plastic cases are build equally. Cases made from WASD keyboards are much thicker and rigid than cases from other companies competitive companies and foreign counterparts. 

Led Backlight and RGB

While LED backlighting, RGB underglow, and in switch RGB are not necessary components. Some users want to have it on their board. Whether it's more for aesthetic or for late night typing, they can be a deciding factor as which board you end up buying. 

Software and Programmability

For many keyboard enthusiasts and users of keyboard under TKL, programmability is a pivotal factor as to which keyboard they will be choosing. Having the ability to easily make macros, add layers, or change the way a certain key reacts is very important to many users. Some programs can make it easier than others and some boards do not even allow remapping/programming their boards. 

Customization 

Want to make your keyboard express some of your character and uniqueness? There are many keyboards that have different colored cases and keycaps that will express what you like. Also take note that their are keyboards that have a nonstandard layout that will make it more difficult to find custom keycaps.
